According to Austria's automotive club VCÖ, 6.4mn heavy trucks crossed the Austrian alps in 2015. This includes 2.1mn which used the Brenner pass. Since 2000 the latter figure has risen by 35%. In Switzerland, on the other hand, the number of trucks crossing the alps fell by 31% over the same period.
