Brazil: House commission approves minimum cargo transport price

The Constitution, Citizenship and Justice Commission of the Brazilian House of Representatives has approved a bill that sets a minimum price for cargo transport services. The price will be revised in January and June of each year, and will take into account variations in diesel prices and toll charges. The bill will now be analysed by the Senate. The bill already has set an initial minimum price of BRL 0.90 (EUR 0.24 USD 0.27) per KM per axle for hazardous or refrigerated cargo and BRL 0.70 for other cargo. Cargo companies and cooperatives will take part in the process for determining the price.
