01.02.2017 Denmark: Maersk Energy could divest Brazilian operationsFinansWatch, 01 Feb 2017, online:-
Claus Hemmingsen, CEO of the Energy division of Danish business conglomerate A.P. Møller-Mærsk, states that the company could divest its oil and gas activities in Brazil. He says that Maersk Energy will reduce its geographical area of operations to primarily focus on Norway and the UK. As A.P. Møller-Mærsk has previously stated its plans to focus more on its Transportation & Logistics segment, the future for business units Tankers, Drilling, Supply Services and Oil remains uncertain. Claus Hemmingsen states that the units are likely to become stand-alone operations, as the business units are highly competitive by themselves, in addition to a lack of synergy effects. As such, A.P. Møller-Mærsk is considering independent IPOs, mergers or joint ventures as potential solutions for the four business units.
