Danish shipping and energy group A.P. Moller - Maersk has released its interim report for Q1 2017. The company posted a turnover of USD 8.90bn (EUR 8.09bn) in the quarter compared with USD 8.50bn in Q1 2016, and EBITDA improved to USD 1.70bn from USD 1.59bn and profit before tax improved to USD 574mn from DKK 369mn. ROIC was 3.5% compared with 2.9% in Q1 2016.
The group delivered an underlying profit of USD 201mn in line with the same quarter last year.
The growth in turnover is attributed to revenue growth in Maersk Line and Maersk Oil. Transport & Logistics are progressing on business integration with Maersk Line increasing volumes to APM Terminals and improved collaboration between Maersk Line and Maersk Container Industry. The Energy division was profitable.
The group retains its guidance for 2017 of an underlying profit above 2016.
