Transiidikeskus, the operator of specialized container and general goods terminals at the Muuga harbour, handled 2.8mn tons of goods in 2016, which marked a growth by 7.9% compared to 2015. The container terminal handled 200,257 TEUs of cargo, down by 2.)% y-o-y. The general goods terminal handled 651,792 tons of piece and bulk goods, up by of 35.4% over a year earlier. Transiiidikeskus' CEO said that due to the EU imposed trade sanctions on Russia, the company would adjust development strategy and would roll out the Muuga-Vuosaari ConRo shipping route and north-south and south-north container train traffic in 2017.Transiidikeskus would aim at 15% increase in its terminals' total freight turnover and increase the total area of enclosed storage space to 75,000 sq.meters in 2017.
