France: The revamp of the Lacoste supply chain
LSA, 03 Nov 2016, p.33:-
Lacoste has adopted new IT tools supplied by Manhattan Associates so as to have a view of its stocks in real-time. The French clothing company is soon to experiment courier deliveries in two Parisian stores. This service will cost less than EUR 10 (USD 11.23) and came about thanks to the digitisation of the Lacoste supply chain, with its order management solution. Indeed, following the transformation of its supply chain in America, Lacoste has made a similar move in Europe. Since August 2016, the central warehouse in Troyes stocks 4mn parts in order to supply Europe entire, while the Beauvais warehouse, which focused only on e-commerce orders, closed down. Despite the investments made, this transformation has improved the Lacoste margins by scrapping intermediaries and enabled an increase in sales volumes. This vision has been extended to stores, with the final aim being to offer an e-reservation service as well as a click & collect service, with the product being available within an hour or being delivered at a specific time. Store employees have received a tablet so as to help them provide information to customers and manage inventories. The Lacoste returns management has also been revamped. The clothing company is looking into Facebook sales, while optimising its supply chain in Asia with a sole platform in South Korea. Lacoste has 1,200 stores, 220 outlets and some 2,000 corner shops in 118 countries.
