Ireland: Pony Express Couriers delivers by drone with IAA approval

With approval from the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA), Pony Express Couriers completed the first parcel delivery using DJI Inspire 1 drone in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland on 28 January 2017 as part of a research project by 10-year-old student Belle Moore. The parcel contained medical supplies weighing 250 grams and was sent to a boat at sea. The Irish courier company has no immediate plans to launch a drone delivery service citing the high possibility of interception, damage and loss.
