Thomas Broström, regional manager for the Swedish Association of Road Transport Companies (Sveriges Åkeriföretag) in the county of Värmland says that there is a boom in the road transport industry even if profit margins could be better. Road transport companies have an average profit margin of about 3%. Broström expects the boom in the industry to remain for at least one more year. Today, 220 companies are members of the Swedish Association of Road Transport Companies Värmland but there is still around 100 active on the market that are not linked to the association, Broström says. Competition from foreign hauliers is very tough and the association receives many complaints about foreign hauliers that do not follow Swedish regulations, he adds.
