Lithuanian grain producers are planning to export about 4mn tons of grains in 2017. The producers expect haulage companies to compete for the transports of grains. The state-controlled Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways, LG), expects to deliver grains for exports to the Klaipeda port. LG has a fleet of 1,100 train cars for carrying grain, to be topped with 200-300 train cars to be leased from Belarus. The rivaling Siaures Vilkas, a leading grain trade and logistics group, expects to compete with LG for transporting grains.
