Dutch inland tank shipping is expected to increase by 1% in 2017 and 2018 mainly due to increased transport of chemicals as the oil and oil products transport levels are to remain steady, according to the Dutch bank ABN Amro. The chemicals transport is to increase due to a 3.1% production increase in 2017 and a 3.2% increase in 2018. The inland tank shipping sector can benefit extra from this because rail transport is rarely used for chemicals. The entire inland shipping sector is expected to see an increase of 3.5% for volumes.
