Norway-based energy firm Statoil has awarded a deal for the procurement of two shuttle tankers to Malaysia-based MISC through the Malaysian firm's unit AET Tanker Holdings. MISC will hire Samsung Heavy Industries of South Korea to build two 125,000 deadweight tonnage (dwt) DP shuttle tankers following the award of the deal. The deal is valued at USD 275mn (EUR 245.67mn) for a charter period of seven years or USD 200mn for five years of charger period. The Korean firm will deliver the tankers to MISC in 2019. After that, the tankers will be chartered to Statoil. Statoil will decide on the charter period and reveal the information by 31 December 2017. Statoil will use these tankers for operation in oilfields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf of the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and the southern Barents Sea.
