Poland: Logistics sector develops well but is let down by infrastructure
Puls Biznesu, 08 Mar 2017, online:-
The latest Logistic Performance Index (LPI) of the World Bank awards 3.43 points out of a possible five to Poland, compared to the global leader Germany with 4.23. The LPI assesses different aspects of logistics, but if Poland were to be assessed only according to the single criterion of logistics infrastructure, the country would fall to a level below countries such as Oman and Kenya. Intercontinental rail transport offers the chance of rapid and profitable development in Poland, since for example it offers both cheaper and more rapid loading than either air or sea transport. One of the drivers of rail freight development could be the new Silk Road to China. However, road transport still predominates in Poland, with a share of over 70% in freight transport. This is well above the figure for Western Europe.
