Sweden: AutoFreight project to investigate use of autonomous HCT trucks

A Swedish research project, AutoFreight, aimed at investigating possibilities to streamline container transports between the Port of Gothenburg and Viared's logistics park in Borås by using autonomous High Capacity Transport (HCT) trucks have been launched with manufacturing company Volvo Group as project leader. Other participants are e-commerce company Ellos Group, Kerry Logistics, electronics producer Speed Group and Volvo Buses. The project budget is SEK 50mn (EUR 5.18mn USD 5.56mn) and expected finish is in H1 2020. Swedish government agency VINNOVA has granted SEK 21mn to the project and the participants will account for the rest.
