Figures from Swedish agency Transport Analysis (Trafikanalys) show that the total number of domestic passengers in Swedish ports amounted to 1.8 million in 2018. This was an increase of almost 5% compared to 2015. The total number of foreign passengers entering Swedish ports increased by 4% to about 13 million. Total cargo handling amounted to 171 million tonnes in Sweden in 2016, a 1% increase. Meanwhile, domestic cargo handling decreased by 2% to 22 million tonnes. A total of 288,000 tonnes of cargo was transported on inland waterways. This is equivalent to 1% of total domestic cargo handling. The total number of vessel arrivals in Swedish ports amounted to 76,786 in 2016 which was in line with the number in 2015.
