The Swedish government has commissioned the Swedish National Mediation Office (Medlingsinstitutet) to investigate the conflict regulations at Swedish port operator APM Terminals in Gothenburg. The assignment includes mapping of conflict frequency at APM, which has signed collective agreement with the Swedish Confederation of Trade Unions (LO), but not with the Swedish Dockworkers' Union (Hamnarbetarförbundet). Ylva Johansson, Swedish Minister for Employment, states that the ongoing conflict at the Port of Gothenburg is very serious and that the Office will provide a general analysis of these types of employment conflicts. Joakim Ärlund, CEO of the Ports of Sweden (Sveriges Hamnar), states that the initiative is most welcome, but that it would be even more preferable if the investigation also intended to present law change proposals as well.
